CSS began in 1974 providing custom software to the general business community. Services included systems analysis, project planning, implementation, training, and documentation. Accounting, Wholesale Distribution, Retail Manufacturing and Credit Union applications were some of the diverse software products CSS designed and successfully installed in the early years of the company.

In 1979 CSS was approached by 3 major Hotel Management firms to write an accounting system designed to the unique specifications of the Hospitality Industry. The CSS System was in fact written to conform to the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry published by the Int'l Assoc. of Hospitality Accountants, as well as to the requirements of the Hotel Management Firms. From this point forward, the CSS Corporate Accounting and Back Office Systems produced the user defined financial and statistical information critical to the Corporate Center and the hotels they owned and managed.

In 1982, at the request and with the continuing cooperation of our customers, CSS began the development of hotel property management software that was fully integrated with the CSS accounting products. CSS utilized the invaluable industry expertise of Doubletree Hotels, Pratt Hotel Corporation and Metro Hotels to develop an operationally sound, simple to use Front Office System. This expertise came from all hotel operational levels and included lists of likes and dislikes about their current Front Office Systems, and what can be done to improve Front Office operations. The goal was achieved, timely and accurate information passed automatically from the Front Office to the Back Office System without any duplication of effort.

By 1985, CSS Hotel Systems had more than 200 hotels using CSS accounting software. By December of 1986, without actively marketing the system, the CSS Front Office System was installed in over 21 hotels. The CSS Property Management System proved to be a cost effective, unique hotel software for the IBM mini computer.

Utilizing the latest technology, CSS elected to migrate to alternative hardware environments to continue to provide our customers with cost effective alternatives. CSS added new Applications and enhancements to the hotel software to meet our customer’s continually changing needs and to respond to industry trends.

CSS is a privately held corporation that has been owned and managed by the founding principals, and has never Looked for outside investors or partners. The stability of CSS Hotel Systems speaks for itself. Several major hotel management companies have been customers of CSS for over 15 years. 

All CSS products are designed, developed, installed, trained and supported by CSS Hotel Systems. CSS is a financially stable company, hospitality and lodging specific with a commitment to research and development, and continued sustainable growth. We are committed to customer satisfaction.
